Panel measures approximately 18 1/2″ x 11 1/2″. The collage glass sheets are an irregular size and depending on how the liquid glass is poured, there may be extra. Please let me know when ordering if a slightly larger panel is NOT wanted.
This Cardinal panel uses beautiful Bullseye collage glass for its background. Black streamer are imbedded vertically in the clear glass for an illusion of more trees further away in the background. Yellow and 3 different shades of green frit (little pieces of glass fused into the glass) are used to create the appearance of leaves. This glass really needs to be scene in person to be appreciated. Now to the main star, the Cardinals.
I use a vivid red cathedral glass for the Cardinals which really amplifies light. You can see the tiny bubbles running through it in the close up photos. The Cardinals have been wrapped in a smaller copper foil than the rest of the panel to help keep their detail. I use solder balls for their eyes.
The birch trees have both full cuts and copper foil embellishment on the front of the panel (all of the small detail is on the front of the panel only). Using copper foil allows me to add in all the tiny detail with the scarring on the trees. The solder lines have been finished in black patina. Both solder and glass have been protected with Carnauba wax and buffed to a high polished shine.
